What motivates you as an artist? Any particular themes, motifs or sources of inspiration?
As a children's book illustrator and portrait artist, people are my favorite subjects to draw and paint. I mostly get inspiration from daily life and from personal experiences. I also pull ideas from childhood memories and from watching my own kids growing up and experiencing life. I like to draw people of all ages, but I usually focus on kids, as I think they speak to the child in all of us – that wide-eyed part of us that still gets excited about ice cream cones and fireflies, feels lonely when a loved one leaves us, finds comfort in a hug or a good book.
